Northeast Tennessee Chapter of SHRM

Welcome to the Northeast Tennessee Chapter (#190) of the Society for Human Resource Management.

Our Chapter supports the national SHRM mission: Serve the Professional and Advance the Profession! How? Read on …

Serve the Professional: We are an active local resource available for HR professionals to contact with various HR needs. Networking with other HR professionals that you will come in contact with as a member of our Chapter allows you opportunities to share and receive policy advice and best practices, discuss hot issues, research current trends, etc.

Advance the Profession: Each Chapter member is invited and encouraged to attend monthly meetings that are intended to enhance professional development. Much effort goes toward planning these monthly meetings to ensure that topics are timely and speakers are dynamic.

We welcome you to visit one of our meetings! Take a look at the list of upcoming Chapter meetings and send your RSVP to me if you find one you wish to attend. Based on what you see/learn at the meeting, it would be great if you decide to join our Chapter!

    Human Resources Certification

Earning your SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP credential makes you a recognized expert and leader in the HR field—and a valuable asset to your organization, keeping you and your organization more competitive in today's economy. This professional distinction sets you apart from your colleagues, proving your high level of knowledge and skills.

To meet business needs, SHRM has established two competency-based certifications, the SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) for early- and mid-career professionals and the SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) for senior-level practitioners. SHRM regards the SHRM-CP and SHRM-SCP as the new global standard in certification for the HR profession. For more information about the SHRM exam, please visit the SHRM website at

If you are a Northeast TN SHRM chapter member and pass the SHRM or HRCI exam for the first time, the Chapter will provide a one-time reimbursement of $75 for your exam fees.  That is just one more benefit of being a member of our chapter and of SHRM. Click here to download form
